Event Recap: Onco:Innovate 2025 – Where Oncology Meets Innovation
20/05/2025Onco:Innovate is honored to support and participate in this year’s Vienna International Summer School on Oncology (VSSO), taking place from July 10 to 23, 2025, in Vienna, Austria.
The VSSO brings together 35 national and international medical students with a keen interest in interdisciplinary oncology. The goal is to offer students early exposure to the diverse fields of oncology while connecting them with leading experts from academia, clinical practice, and the industry.
The VSSO has been a cornerstone of oncology education for 25 years, and this year’s program emphasizes innovation and translational research. Onco:Innovate’s ethos aligns perfectly with VSSO’s mission: fostering collaboration across academia, startups, and clinical care to accelerate patient-centered innovation.
Our Contribution: Insights on Bridging Innovative Oncological Solutions to Market
On July 22, 2025, Onco:Innovate founder and Vangavis CEO Kaloyan Ratchev will lead a dynamic 60-minute workshop titled “Bridging Innovative Oncological Solutions to Market.” This session is designed to inspire medical students to explore the intersection of oncology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The workshop will guide participants through the essential steps required to bring a promising oncological idea from the research stage to real-world clinical implementation. We will focus on validating and shaping ideas into viable healthcare solutions.
Participants will learn how to effectively validate their innovative ideas and develop them into sustainable ventures. We will discuss crucial strategies for scaling innovations, guiding students through the journey from initial pilot projects to full integration within hospital systems. This practical approach aims to equip future oncologists and researchers with the tools needed to transform promising concepts into impactful healthcare solutions.
Additionally, we will explore the pathways for implementation – how early-stage concepts evolve into functional prototypes and eventually into solutions integrated within hospital systems and clinical workflows. To illustrate these processes, real-world case studies from the European oncology innovation landscape will be presented, providing tangible examples of both successes and challenges.
This interactive, practice-oriented session will offer participants the opportunity to reflect on their own ideas and ask questions. By the end of the hour, students will gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to transform a clinical problem into a sustainable, scalable innovation that can truly improve cancer care.
